A wonderful colour morph of montipora, with a bright green mantle and prominent red polyps. As with all members of the genus, the Red Hot Chilli pepper Monti is hardier than most SPS corals, making it the perfect beginner coral for those getting into SPS. One of the iconic corals of the reef, the Montipora capricornis is a true colossus, growing into vast plate like structures housing millions of fish and invertebrates. Similar results can be achieved in a large enough aquarium, provided the coral is positioned far enough from the front of the tank to grow out. Many concentric plates will form as the coral grows, often shadowing plates below them, resulting in localised bleaching and die off; but this is perfectly normal in most cases. Secure this coral to rockwork with milliput at the base and position according to where it is to grow out. Handle with care as this coral is easily broken; however even tiny fragments will grow out on their own if resecured to rockwork.
